The following are spells which either should exist, or already exist, but the knowledge of reagents, or other objects necessary for their casting, have been lost.
The target of these spells would immediately get a desire to write at half their normal speed and take extreme care to form each letter precisely, thus ensuring the readability of the writing. Only by holding a certain position within "Quest", would a person be able to cast one of the more powerful spells. For example, IMPROVEºHANDWRITINGºI should be available to all players. IMPROVEºHANDWRITINGºII, however, would only be available to people who deal with a moderate amount of mail, such as alliance heads and newsletter editors. Naturally, as the level of the spell increases, so does its power. Indeed, IMPROVEºHANDWRITINGºII can be cast on entire groups of people. For an alliance head this would be members of their alliance, for a newsletter editor, only players in their particular game. The most powerful version of this spell, IMPROVEºHANDWRITINGºIII would be reserved for KJC inputting staff. Their version would be so great, that they could cast it on all players in every game that they input.
On having this spell cast at them, the target would be afflicted by an uncontrollable disease which would make them write back to the caster imediately. The group of players who would make use of the spell most often would be alliance heads, whose ungrateful members neglect to let them know where they are, despite having received huge amounts of shop lists, map and spell information. REPLYºII is a more powerful spell than REPLYºI, in that the target is forced to send a SSAE with their reply. Under most circumstances, this stronger spell would only be available to alliance heads, newsletter editors and people who are asked to send help, or other information.
This spell would be cast at players who, even after several reminders, still have not sent the spell, map, shopºlist, blurb information, which they had promised several months ago. The target would get feelings of guilt and remorse, followed by urges to rush to their computer, a photocopier, a pen, to copy the long-promised information.
Before casting either REPLYºI, REPLYºII, or GIVE INFORMATION, it would be advisable to cast IMPROVE HANDWRITING to ensure that the REPLY or GIVE INFORMATION spell is not wasted.
This would remove all the "oafishness" from your group's thief. All propensity to knock over boxes, start guard dogs barking and to wake up shops' owners while attempting to steal, is be removed. Instead your thief is temporarily transformed into a stealthy, fleet-footed, near-invisible, shadow. However, this spell should not be used too frequently, in case your thief comes to decides to leave your group with all the stolen gold, never to be seen again!
This was a very useful spell which prevented a mage from attempting to cast a spell for which s/he did not have all the necessary reagents. This spell only needed to be cast once for each mage. Unfortunately, the spell requires all nine reagents in a non-numerical sequence, as well as several "useless" objects to work. This knowledge was lost several years ago and no-one has ever had the time, or money, to rediscover the spell.
This is possibly the most useful spell ever discovered. It is quick, easy and cheap to cast. The causes the spell's target's armour instantaneously rust, and after a few seconds of squeaking, jams completely, thereby preventing its occupant from moving. The caster's group is then left free to run away, pausing only to tip the poor person over, if they are feeling vindictive. As the spell is so easy to cast, by using this spell, even new groups can defeat older, more powerful groups with ease. However, it is always possible, and even likely if the beaten groups feels embarressed by their defeat, that they will return to confront the victors, with the idea of a rematch. WHILE WEARING CLOTH OR LEATHER ARMOURS!
